With Drive For Five, Local Community Foundation Working Hard

The Chisago Lakes Area Community Foundation (CLACF) is pleased to announce a major fund-raising drive to increase the overall assets of the Foundation. CLACF has initiated a “Drive for Five” campaign with the aim of raising $500,000 by soliciting commitments of $1000 annually from 100 community members for five years.

Foundation Chairman Dan Hoolihan was especially gratified to learn that local philanthropists have anonymously agreed to match contributions to the fund up to $25000. “Up until now, our fundraising has been more behind the scenes. However when generous people acknowledge and support the community foundation with an opportunity like this, it’s time to get busy raising funds. We are very appreciative of this important gift. It helps our Drive For Five get off to an excellent start.”

Originating in 2008, the community foundation seeks to develop permanently endowed funds to benefit our community. The Foundation is governed by a Board of Directors and it is an affiliate of the St. Croix Valley Foundation. Area residents may recall the foundation sponsored two Art Dashes (2010 and 2012) to increase awareness and funding of the foundation as well as showcase local artists. In addition, the Foundation initiated the popular and successful Highway 8 Chairs project in 2013 to create a sense of community pride.

CLACF seeks sixty-five community members able and willing to support the Drive for Five effort. County Press readers wishing to participate with a financial contribution are invited to send a check made payable to CLACF, PO Box 449, Lindstrom, MN 55045 noting in the memo line if they wish their commitment remain anonymous. A notice of receipt will then be mailed from the St Croix Valley Foundation (CLACFs parent organization) recognizing the gift for tax purposes.
